Panorama Glass Lodge®

About Us

Panorama Glass Lodge® is a family owned and operated business.

We are a family from Selfoss, south Iceland (originally from Switzerland and Germany) who had the idea in early 2015 to create an absolutely unique and romantic getaway in Iceland where it is possible to watch the northern lights and the midnight sun right out of the comfort of your bed or private hot tub.

That’s why we designed the Panorama Glass Lodges®. Our Lodges were the first houses in Iceland (in 2017) where it is possible to sleep under a glass ceiling. Since then, Panorama Glass Lodge® has been the pioneer on the market and more variations of glass houses have been built around Iceland after this concept has been proven to be very popular.

The most important point was for our guests to have an amazing, comfortable and unforgettable experience with enough privacy in the spectacular icelandic scenery. Therefore we decided to build just a few houses on a huge piece of land instead of many houses on a tiny piece of land to avoid the feeling of staying in a resort.

Even though the cabins are out in the nature, our guests can still enjoy luxury, high quality standards and extraordinary design.

The shape of the Lodges is inspired by scandinavian houses and the combination of wooden elements with steel and glass makes the Lodges unique. The interior is completely custom made and sustainable whereby high value was placed on the details. We respect nature and use only materials that do no harm to our beautiful surroundings. The water is the purest in the world, coming directly from a nearby spring. We use sustainable electricity to heat up our pools.

We also use refillable cosmetics from the local brand Sóley Organics which are completely organic.

At the beginning, the glass Lodges® were meant for honeymooners and as a romantic getaway but when it got featured in several print and online media (i.e. Maxim, The Telegraph, Harper’s Bazaar, ELLE, Dwell, Süddeutsche Zeitung and many more – see “press/media”) a lot of people wanted to visit to see the scenery and get nice pictures from the “bed with a view”.

Our small business became very popular in a short time. There is now a total of 4 Lodges in Hella (south Iceland) but each with a lot of privacy and not too close to the other houses. There are also 4 glass Lodges at our west Iceland location near Borgarnes. On the property are two standard glass Lodges and one premium/family glass Lodge and one superior glass Lodge which all feature ocean and mountain views. More locations and Lodges are planned in the future.

Our first official partner at Æera Nord in Norway has added 3 Panorama Glass Lodges® to their wonderful property at the Fjord near Tromso.

Our second official partner Wilding Hotels in Alaska added 4 Panorama Glass Lodges® to their property in the forest in Fairbanks.

Our team is full of young and enthusiastic people, everyone originally from a different country, speaking several languages. We are looking forward to hosting you!

As part of the Panorama Glass Lodge team, she brings her calm energy, eye for detail, and love for beautiful spaces into every cabin. Sometimes full of laughter, sometimes craving silence, she enjoys both sides of Iceland – the wild and the peaceful.

Katrin

Katrín

Customer service & Housekeeping

Katrín is an Icelandic sheep farmer who likes to listens to stories. She loves a good crime thriller but doesn’t have the time to sit down and read a book – so she listens to them.

Katrín is really funny, but also shy, so not a lot of people get to see that side of her. The little things in life are the ones that matter the most to Katrín. She has the world’s worst sheep dog – he tries to herd the sheeps for her but he is happiest inside, preferably in her lap. Her house is full of kids and animals, so there is never a dull moment.

Katrín is taking care of customer service & bookings and is also doing housekeeping in the Lodges.
